Seen at the Cambodian trade fair last month:

Gorgeous, aren’t they?

Yes, they are real gems mined in Pailin, Cambodia.

And no, I didn’t get any. Gems and jewelries aren’t exactly my thing 😛

  1. I bought my wife a sapphire ring in Cambodia at a very reputable shop, yep it broke when we got home and the Jeweller said it was cut glass, oh well!
I have heard the Pailin area is rich in gems, hope these are the real thing.

    • Sorry to hear about that, Mark. It is indeed difficult to find shops that sell genuine stuff, especially some years ago. I think these days it is much, much better now. My wedding ring was custom-made in one of the jewelry shops at the Russian market {Tuol Tumpong market} here and when I had it appraised back in my country, the {Cambodian} gold content was high quality and the value was three-fold the original price.
