One of my guilty pleasures here in Phnom Penh is sitting down in a street-side cafe and sipping this oh-so-sinfully sweet iced coffee. But, today though, I made this at home. Pure bliss.

It’s the height of summer here in Phnom Penh and my husband and I found a new activity to do… it’s kite-flying!
Does kite-flying appeal to you?
The trick to this great summer activity is to find a nice spot with a steady breeze. Or pick a day that is just windy, pack some sandwiches and drinks and let the kite-flying fun begins.
It was one of the best things my husband and I has ever done together in Phnom Penh. I’m sure the fun we had will be best remembered as we grow older in the years to come.
How about you, what’s your favourite activity to do during summer?

In case you’re wondering where I’ve been… I’m sick.
I’m feeling run down and nursing a very bad case of cold of cough. It’s been three weeks already. The whole house shakes when I cough (I kid you not!) and my voice now sounds a bit like Sauron (of the Lord of the rings fame) and my dogs are not happy about it. It started with my husband who got it from one of his students… and I have it pretty, pretty bad now. This bug is kicking my behind so please excuse the absence of posts.
I am still coughing a lung but hopefully I can kick this sickness pronto. And since my mother can’t take care of me from all the distance between us, I’ll just remember to cover my mouth when I cough, as she always reminds me.
I’ll be back when I’m feeling better again.

This is one of the grocery stores that I love going to. They just opened a new branch in Tuol Kork district, near my place.

Thai Huot is a small grocery store but it is stocked with French and other European products. My husband also loves the cheese section as well as the pantry products. Their spices section is also well-worth a look.
