They are your friendly basket-sellers. I took this photo while we were driving to Kep one weekend. They are a common sight in the countryside but don’t be surprised to see them in the city, too. Ambulant sellers like them are still plying their trade in this manner despite the emergence of new markets and air-conditioned malls.

It’s a lot of hard work but it’s a job to do and earns them money for their families.

These baskets made from indigenous materials found in their villages are most likely made by the village women and sold to other places.

My husband and I were driving along north of Norodom Boulevard one evening when this bicycle overtook us.

While my husband was caught by surprise – it came out of nowhere – I had the urge to sing Rihanna’s popular “Umbrella” song!

No rain or floodwater can stop this young lad from going to school. Kind of reminds me of me  when I was younger, lol.

 

And if it were me above, cycling through the flooded street,  I’d be happily  whistling, too.
