The Amazing Race is one of my favourite shows of all time. When this show came to Cambodia (fourth leg of Season 15 which aired in 2009), I made sure that I didn’t miss the episode. One of the most memorable and funny moments in this leg, and perhaps the entire season, was when one-half of the early favourite pair of contestants excitedly, albeit incorrectly, pronounced Phnom Penh as “Sean Penn” as they read their clue. What a hoot!

Wat Tuol Tumpong, seen below, was the site of the leg’s Road block. The picture shows one of the side entrances to the wat.

Wat Tuol Tumpong was featured in one of the road blocks in the fourth leg of the Amazing Race season 15.

In this Roadblock, one team member had to put on a monkey mask and tail, then perform three Classical Khmer monkey dance maneuvers as demonstrated by the monkey dancer. If it was to the satisfaction of the monkey dancer, he would hand them their next clue.

One of the detour’s was in Psah Tuol Tumpong, popularly called the Russian market, which is just a stone’s throw away from the wat. To read more about the Amazing Race Season 15’s Cambodia leg, entitled, Sean Penn: Here We Come. Please click the link.
