APAD 286: Carabao energy drink

Energy drinks are commonly consumed in Cambodia. I know they’re marketed to men but they’re practically everywhere that you can see these kinds of products sold in school canteens or peddled by vendors outside the school. I was even shocked to see one kid drinking an energy drink (not this one).

I don't drink energy drinks. Do you?

Here, energy drinks have been here not long ago and people consume these drinks – man, woman, or child – like they’re regular fizzy drinks. They don’t realise that it could cause harm to their health, especially to children.

The major streets were bedecked with festive buntings and Chinese and Cambodian flags to welcome Chinese President Hun Jintao to Phnom Penh on his visit to Cambodia.

He reportedly visited the Cambodian King-Father Norodom Sihanouk and met with the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Yes, the Chinese President was here before the Khmer New Year.

Hello, friends.

I’m feeling much better these days so I’m back to regular blogging. Now on to my Mellow Yellow Monday entry…

Yum!

This is arguably the best iced coffee in Phnom Penh. You can find it inside the Russian Market, aka, Tuol Tumpong Market.

I just want to break my self-imposed blog hiatus to greet everyone a very happy new year. Today marks the beginning of the Cambodian new year, that is, the year 2556.

May this year be a start of something new, productive, and wonderful for all of us…

In case you’re wondering where I’ve been… I’m sick.

I’m feeling run down and nursing a very bad case of cold of cough. It’s been three weeks already. The whole house shakes when I cough (I kid you not!) and my voice now sounds a bit like Sauron (of the Lord of the rings fame) and my dogs are not happy about it.  It started with my husband who got it from one of his students… and I have it pretty, pretty bad now. This bug is kicking my behind so please excuse the absence of posts.

I am still coughing a lung but hopefully I can kick this sickness pronto. And since my mother can’t take care of me from all the distance between us, I’ll just remember to cover my mouth when I cough, as she always reminds me.

I’ll be back when I’m feeling better again.
