APAD 282: My own private gym
Just a wishful thinking but, hey, it’s cool to have this building in our neightbourhood. You gotta love the name of this recreation centre. For sure you will have a good time there!

It is nearly finished and, according to the sign, it will house a gym, swimming pool, and courts for tennis, badminton, squash, and pingpong, sauna and beauty parlour. Also, a mini-mart and coffee shop will be in the same building.
Oh, did I also say that it’s just across, a stone’s throw from, my apartment. Now how good is that?

APAD 280: Mushrooms and cockroaches
Taken on top of the O’Russei Market, at the rooftop parking area. What a view.
For some reason, the umbrellas look like mushrooms and the tuk-tuks resemble cockroaches that are on parade.
APAD 279: Phnom Penh’s summer trees
Yes, these lovely flower trees are back and the streets of Phnom Penh are covered in a bright explosion of yellow. They are beautiful and striking, don’t you think so? The first time I saw them I really got smitten.
This is how it looks like in my neighbourhood now. I hope I don’t forget to find a couple of seed pods to send to my mother. She, too, loves flowers and this flower tree will add colour to our small piece of homelot.
I should have taken more pictures but I’m inside a moving car and didn’t exactly fancy getting out lest I inhale smoke from the vehicles and worsen my allergy.
APAD 278: Sideview mirror image
I was fiddling with the new Nikon camera that my husband bought last week when I looked out at looked at the side mirror. The image “framed” inside the mirror caught my attention and took a snap. Please excuse the date stamp. At that time I wasn’t aware that it was on.
It’s a pushcart with lots of girl’s and phone accessories for sale that are colourful. With an ounce of business savvy , a dollop of creativity and huge, huge amount of tenacity, perseverance and patience – they now have a rolling (or should I say walking?) store. And there are lots of them enterprising Cambodians, especially on weekends, selling just about anything. Times are tough and I admire the way they are coping. I wonder how far they go (travel) and how much they earn in a day. It is a very tiring job, walking for stretches, with the scorching heat of Phnom Penh summer. I do like how the seller is managing from the heat and dust 🙂 I hope they are safe each day.
APAD 277: Thai Huot
This is one of the grocery stores that I love going to. They just opened a new branch in Tuol Kork district, near my place.
Thai Huot is a small grocery store but it is stocked with French and other European products. My husband also loves the cheese section as well as the pantry products. Their spices section is also well-worth a look.
