Party onboard? How cool is that? This double-decker was used two months ago for the launching of a local beer.

APAD 244: Denis Darzacq Photography in Phnom Penh, Part 2
The other week I passed by the French Embassy and was surprised to find out that the photographs of the French photographer Denis Darzacq were still not taken down. If you can recall, I was able to photograph one portion of the wall that showed photographs of locals with their helmets on.
Good thing is that I photographed the other part of the wall that showed another series of his photographs:
Denis Darzacq (France)
He is one of the best-known photographers of his generation and has exhibited all around the world. His series “La chute” (“The Fall”) made him an artist recognized by the public, after other professionals and collectors had appreciated his talent. In love with color and movement, he always carefully organizes his striking images in order to produce meaning and encourage thougths. This year, two of his series will be spectacularly dis-played on the outside wall of the French Embassy. The series “Hyper” depicts young men and girls, dancers and athletes, floating in front of his lens in the colorful departments of the new temples of consumer society. Suspended in air, to the point where this would seem impossible without manipulation, these floating figures confront accumulations of products such as rolls of carpet. – Photo Phnom Penh Festival 2011 Programme
APAD 238: A broken wing
We have a small veranda garden in our apartment. Nothing spectacular, just greens and flowering plants in pots. We have orchids and roses and they give me pleasure every time I see their flowers bloom. We also have regular free-loaders and visitors who stay in the garden…
… this visitor seems to have a broken wing. My husband and I found it one morning resting on this plant.
APAD 237: Breaking news: Fire in Chamkarmon!
These just in…
A fire hit a residential house in St. 434 Group 4 Chamkarmon district about half past nine this morning. These pictures were taken by my brother who’s office is just a stone’s throw away from the affected area. He said they were among the first to arrive on the scene, ahead of the firefighters.
Folks at the scene said the house serves as a warehouse of firecrackers. It is unconfirmed though.
Phnom Penh firefighters arrived moments later and immediately worked to put out the fire.
The fire was already contained as of this writing. My brother said that there were no reported casualties. That is good to know. Perhaps tomorrow we will learn more details as news of this incident gets published on the papers. A fellow expat commented that this is the third time a fire broke out in this area.

APAD 227: A cloud-filled day
The new bridge to Koh Pich (Diamond Island). We went there to check out the One Province, One Product Exhibit two weeks ago and we weren’t disappointed.
Even though we went there on a weekend, the traffic was surprisingly not heavy, as you can see from the picture. Add to that, the weather was a cool 25C and even if the aircon wasn’t in full, it was still cool inside the exhibition area. There were so many interesting things to see. I think the One Province, One Product exhibit is a great way for small and medium Cambodian producers and farmers to showcase their produce to the national and international level.
