APAD 241: Four Legs Inn
Attention-grabbing, isn’t it? I believe all of you will agree with me that it is so.
I have to say that after reading the name on that sign, images were running through my head, lol. The area where this sign is located used to be a red-light district not long ago. However, due to government-crackdown on brothels, the area was cleaned up and there cheap guest-houses and inns sprouted instead as replacements. Sadly, nothing changed, especially at night. The newly-built structures merely masked the “trade”.
I asked my husband to do a U-turn and go back so I could get a photo. The sign certainly piqued my interest about the advertised place; maybe yours will be, as well. I think despite its connotation – intended, or unintended due to language differences – it is a funny sign 🙂
APAD 239: The countryside Pajero
One quiet weekend on a farm just outside of Phnom Penh, the stillness of the afternoon was broken by the familiar chug-a-chug-chug sound coming from this vehicle…
It is fondly called the “Pajero” of the rural villages. It transports products and carries people from the innermost part of the village to the town proper where the town market is. It is a great alternative to moto-dops (moto-taxis) most especially during the rainy season.
APAD 237: Breaking news: Fire in Chamkarmon!
These just in…
A fire hit a residential house in St. 434 Group 4 Chamkarmon district about half past nine this morning. These pictures were taken by my brother who’s office is just a stone’s throw away from the affected area. He said they were among the first to arrive on the scene, ahead of the firefighters.
Folks at the scene said the house serves as a warehouse of firecrackers. It is unconfirmed though.
Phnom Penh firefighters arrived moments later and immediately worked to put out the fire.
The fire was already contained as of this writing. My brother said that there were no reported casualties. That is good to know. Perhaps tomorrow we will learn more details as news of this incident gets published on the papers. A fellow expat commented that this is the third time a fire broke out in this area.
