APAD 363: Vanilla ice, ice cream

Posted by on Sep 10, 2012 in A Photo a Day, Addicted to Meme, Cambodia, Cambodia life, Expat Life, What's On in Cambodia | 2 comments

My husband and I were out running errands last Saturday. It was hot, as usual, so we bought a tub of ice cream on the way home.

You can’t go wrong with ice cream on a hot day.

I’m a chocolate person so you’d expect I’d get one but my husband likes vanilla, especially with this ice cream brand. The solution? We bought the vanilla ice cream and a chocolate syrup to satiate my chocolate craving. Compromise. It’s a win-win situation for us both.

APAD 308: Ice cream!

Heat-buster! I had a scoop each of mango and coffee flavours.

I love ice cream! When the summer heat gets too unbearable, there are ice cream shops around the city to beat the heat and just, well chill.

Chill Ice Cream and Coffee Lounge is one of them and they’re easily spotted along the riverside. They have a good selection of ice cream flavours, however, not much to rave about. The ice cream was just alright. They also offer ice cream cakes, coffee and pastries.

APAD 256: Yummy yellow curry

One of my favourites! Chicken deliciously cooked in creamy coconut milk with various herbs and spices. Mildly hot and spicy. Chicken curry – whether red, green or yellow – is an everyday fare for most Cambodians and Thais. For us, foreigners, it is a special dish serve on special occasions.

APAD 223: Siomai

I always look forward to weekends in Phnom Penh where we get to dine out at a restaurant of our choice. More often than not, we go Chinese. And there is no shortage of authentic Chinese restaurants in the city.

I forgot how these are called in Khmer language but they are called “siomai” in the Philippines. My favourite. I could a dozen or more of this 🙂
