APAD 176: Phnom Penh skyscraper
This is the Vattanac Tower in Monivong Boulevard, Phnom Penh. It is, as of this writing, the tallest building in the city. With the tower rising at 188-metre (617 ft), this 39-storey building is one of the few high-rise buildings in Cambodia.
This building will house serviced apartments, retail and office spaces, a rooftop outdoor bar and a parking space. To be honest, the shape is just weird. It looks like a giant standing duck with its protruding beak. On some days, I also think it looks like a giant ski boot.

My favourite part of the house — our veranda garden. And that’s my favourite spot, right there. That’s where I sit down and have my morning coffee while my husband sits opposite of me and my dogs playing nearby.
If I remember it correctly, this photo was taken just after 4pm. The sun is still bright but not hot and blinding anymore. Professional photographers say that the best time to take photos are early in the morning before 10am and just after 4pm in the afternoon. This is called the golden hour. The light is warm and along with the shadows it creates make for an interesting picture.
I also love taking sunrise (and sunset) photos but it’s the getting up I don’t like so much, tee-hee-hee.
APAD 167: Intricate
Here’s a closer at the stupa featured in this post.

This very colourful stupa juts out to the sky, striking, like a red lipstick on a bare face. Notice how intricate the decorations are.
