APAD 033: A tent – a toilet tent!

Posted by on Apr 11, 2011 in A Photo a Day, Addicted to Meme, Mellow Yellow Monday | 3 comments

My friends Mumsified and PinayWifeSpeaks were  in a secondhand items warehouse recently and enjoying the items sold there when PinayWifeSpeaks called my attention and led me to this tent. A quick look at this tent made us  both giggle as we imagined how a person can sleep in a vertical tent like this. We went home still puzzled at this odd-looking tent.

So when I arrived home I showed the above picture to my husband and got the answer – this is a shower/toilet tent! But of course – shower/toilet tents may not be the most essential camping gear required when you go on camping but it is a very useful piece of to own anyway. If purchased with a portable toilet kit, these pieces of equipment make camping a more pleasant experience.  I would’ve gone back to buy it but we don’t go camping here in Cambodia anyway. There are no public camping sites either.

APAD 026: Rosie

This is one the many varieties of rose flower that grown in my garden. Honestly, I don’t know what they’re called but they are so lovely and gives off a faint yet pleasant odour. Yesterday, this lovely bloom greeted me and with this beauty – how can I resist not to take a picture  and post it here?

>Mellow Yellow 005: French colonial buildings

>refurbished French style building

After weeks of being busy with the conference, I am slowly creeping back into the blogosphere through this week’s Mellow Yellow Monday entry.

One of the things I like about Phnom Penh is the mix of traditional Khmer and French colonial architecture, such as the one above, that are remnants of Phnom Penh’s heydays. This particular building, located along the busy riverside strip, is one of the lucky ones that survive the civil wars and are being refurbished and rented out. Others were simply torn down to make way for modern (but ugly) buildings. I hope people will realise that these colonial buildings ought to be preserved, and not obliterated, as these are reminders of the old-world charm of Phnom Penh’s colonial past.
