APAD 044: Rage against the dying of the light

Posted by on Apr 22, 2011 in A Photo a Day, Addicted to Meme, All things Khmer, night shots, Royal Palace, Skywatch Friday | 5 comments

The well-lit Royal Palace, showing off the distinct Khmer-classical style of architecture, stands out amidst the darkness engulfing the whole landscape. This was taken during one of our river-boat cruises on Tonle Bassac (Bassac River). We enjoyed the scenery and the breezy, balmy weather made our river cruise a more pleasant experience. The particular area where we were is the junction of the Tonle Bassac, Tonle Sap, and the mighty Tonle Mekong. If you are visiting the city, do not forget to take a river-boat cruise.

  1. I love the title..I think I wanna go on river cruise na night. looks really fab.

  2. Thanks, Purplecat. The title is a line from one of my favourite poems by Dylan Thomas – it's called Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night. The night cruise is so much better than the daytime cruise. The sunset is spectacular and Phnom Penh looks like a glittering jewel in the horizon.

  3. What a peaceful and magical sight!

  4. nice wide shot

  5. beautiful….so hard to say goodbye to a lovely setting sun!
