APAD 098: Wat Vipassanak Thurak, Kep
Just south of Kep town is Wat Vipassana Thurak, or Wat Vipassana Meditation Centre. It sits on a hill at the bosom of Kep National Park overlooking Kep and its nearby islands, and the Gulf of Thailand. On a very clear day, the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc can be seen from the horizon. The temple is new and has several giant images of the Buddha. It is well worth a visit!

APAD 084: A sunny day, to look up to the sky…
That’s the stupa on top of the Wat Phnom hill (Phnom Temple) jutting out, taken while inside the car. What a great sunny day it was when we went out to run some errands around lunchtime. The traffic was light and there was a slight breeze coming from somewhere.

… in Kep. Taken in the balcony of our rented room. It is an amazing splash of colours looming over the the silhouette of Phnom Bokor (Bokor Mountain).

APAD 072: Prelude to a balmy evening
The fishing boat (foreground), the population 01 island (middle, I nicknamed it myself *proud*), the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc (background), the showy clouds, and the waves of the Gulf of Thailand, as viewed from the coast of Kep. Imagine what I’ve been missing for a long time!
This picture taken in one of our previous trips there. I can still remember the salty smell of the breeze as my husband and I waited for our dinner to be served. We watched the most spectacular sunset – arguably the best sunset in all of Cambodia, if I may say so – while feasting on Kep’s fresh seafood. It was a beautiful, balmy night. In the company of a shy moon, a squad of fireflies, and an orchestra of crickets and other nocturnal insects, my husband and I walked back to our hotel, hand in hand.

APAD 065: Hotel by the riverbanks
This is one of the landmarks in Phnom Penh and one that showcases the Khmer architectural design. It has a fantastic location where guests have an unobstructed view of the Tonle Sap river and part of the Chroy Changvar peninsula. Again, this was taken during one of our company boat trips and I took this photo using my Motorola Razr phone. I was lucky to get a shot of the sun before it hid behind the hotel building.
