APAD 200: King of Kampot road
This is the alternative road, National Road 2, going to Kampot province. As you can see, it is very quiet with only a horse-drawn cart plying the route. Along with ox-driven carts, they are considered the kings of this road.
This is my 2ooth entry – yipeeeeee! – and it’s for this week’s Our World Tuesday.Click on the logo for more pictures of our world.

A beautiful Khmer-style archway.
This ornate archway, found everywhere in Cambodia, marks the entrance to a wat, or temple, or tell you that there is a wat up ahead. The more ornate the designs are signifies that a wat has a lot of well-to-do supporters. How can you miss this one?

Under the tree – what an awesome place to hang the hammock. This big tree provides a cool, shady nook to lounge or take a happy nappy on your hammock especially during the hot, summer season. See the smiles on their faces?
I, for one, love slinging (or “cocooning”) inside a hammock with a good book and basking in the breezy, summer weather. Traditional Khmer restaurants overlooking rice fields or the lake sport hammocks for customers to use while eating Khmer food. There must be something about eating meals while relaxing on a hammock.

I saw this sign by the door of a commune training centre in Kampong Thom province in one of my visits there. If I’m not mistaken, the partnership has been on for more than 20 years now with about 260M euros spent for programs in Cambodia.
Cambodia is a partner country for the German Development Cooperation. The priority areas of cooperation agreed between the two governments are rural development and support for the health system. Cross-cutting tasks include: fostering democracy, civil society, public administration and good governance. (Source)
